WORKING HOLIDAY IN TAIWAN
Working Holiday in Taiwan: Making Friends & Enjoying Life in Taipei
Moving to Taiwan alone? You might wonder who you’ll meet and what you’ll do after work.
Arriving alone doesn’t mean spending every weekend alone.

Meet People Every Weekend
Taipei Weekend Social hosts events every Friday and Saturday. Meet Taiwanese locals and international friends, enjoy conversations, karaoke, darts, Jenga and UNO on Saturdays, or join an optional host-led bar hop after our Friday or Saturday social.
Come back another week for another chance to connect.
You’ll Have Help Getting Started
Our hosts include Taipei locals, working holiday travelers and foreigners working in Taiwan. Our founder, Yi, has also spent years traveling and living abroad.
Come alone—we’ll welcome you and help you meet people. English is welcome, and you don’t have to drink or sing.

Before You Come: A Few Things to Prepare
Check your visa. Start with the working holiday information for your nationality. Check the application requirements and work conditions before making plans.
Plan for time without a job. Look at actual job listings and their language requirements before you arrive. Keep enough savings for your first weeks, a housing deposit and unexpected costs.
Start with a short stay. Consider booking temporary accommodation first. This gives you time to explore neighborhoods and check a room before signing a longer rental agreement.
Make room for life outside work. Include transport, meals and going out in your budget. Leave some time to explore—and meet people you’d like to see again.
